SIMPLE LIFE
little moments – creating more
‘Your life is made up of little moments, little efforts, little changes, big smiles, and all your hopes and dreams.’
Ritu Ghatourey
A fraction of a second caught on camera, smiles….always smiles, but of course it’s not always like this. In fact right now, a few moments ago, an argument over nothing….hurt feelings and nonsense. I could tell you all we’ve achieved up till now, all I hope we’ll achieve this year, but really all I want these days is more of these moments…..more smiles and less tears, more embrace and less attack, more co-operation and less head butting, longer moments like these that turn into years to come.
I can live with less….but I want more.
Am I the only one that struggles, the only one that smiles for the camera no matter what….hoping to expand all these fractions of a second, expand them into a life here we all love.
This year is already a week in, lots of love, laughter, friends, tears and yes arguments…..we’re just a normal family doing an extraordinary thing. How about you, what little moments would you like this year, what dreams to fulfill, …..what will you create??
I’d really love to know, I hope your little moments of joy increase daily, here are some of mine, little Italian moments from the past nine months since leaving Australia xxx

I think that is what makes families unique – the way they are! Even those less than great moments are a time in history where everyone is together creating memories! I think that life is all about good times, not so good times, laughter and tears….its the little bits that make a family who they are! So good to hear about your 2013, hope 2014 brings more little moments that bring a smile to your sweet self, and that you have more xxx
Oh i know you understand Lisa, more than most I bet x
Yes it’s all those little bits I just want to create more great bits together.
Hope all is well and wonderful with you and the boys xx

Oh yeah, winter can get to be very loooooong, I think. We have two feet of snow on the ground and below zero temps.
We often say to each other, “This is a small moment,” and stop to savor it. At dinner we usually say to each other, “Don’t you love dinner?” Our small moments can be just a cup of coffee by the fire, or watching the winter birds on the bird feeders, or gathering the dozen eggs our chickens are now giving us daily. Actually the “small moment” thing is something we teach in school. Trying to get the children to concentrate on a small moment and describe their feelings and emotions instead of a long and sometimes rambling story without interesting details.
Here are several small moments from Colorado this morning. After both of us being ill with sinus infection or strep throat we are feeling so good today. Antibiotics sure help!
While I sit here with the woodstove going and reading my email, hubby fills the bird feeders. lets the chickens out, then throws the ball for our three dogs. I am feeling so optimistic after a week of sick that I could dance!
Thanks so much for sharing your small moments with us, Lisa.
What a wonderful thing to teach in school Caterina, and a way to slow down the thinking and use all the senses to describe and notice each moment in time. I love the idea of your bird feeders and would like to put one up here at the house. Your chickens are going well, ours are yet to lay eggs. I’m happy to think of you dancing and stay well and happy, sending love xxx
