Why an Italian lawyer is best – Marco comes to our rescue

When I first discovered Anna from Beautiful Liguria we had just bought the house in Veravo. All of a sudden we had a new destination, a place to call home in Italy. Now our house would be near the Italian riviera rather than high in the mountains of Piemonte.

I had no idea when I started blogging that it would bring me so many wonderful friends. Friends that I may never meet, yet are so dear to me.  So when we came up against a legal problem that could have cost us time and money I turned to my online friends for help.

The very first person to come to our aid was of course Anna, her fiance is a lawyer (avvocato) in Italy and they offered to help us solve this problem.  A Skype call was arranged, we sat in front of the computer screen waiting to connect, then there they were. As if sitting in our lounge room, we were able to chat and Salvatore and Marco could converse in Italian without any misunderstandings. Anna was close by in case of any translation problems. And I sat transfixed taking in every detail, butting in every now and then to say something profound like “Arrgh I can’t wait to meet you in person” and “Ciao” over and over.

Having someone who instantly understood the situation was invaluable. Being Italian made all the difference, he knows the system and the Italian way of thinking.  He was able to explain exactly what steps we needed to take, no confusion, and such a relief. Even though Sam speaks fluent Italian it would have been a huge headache trying to figure out what to do.

Problem solved

Seeing Anna and Marco on the screen was one of the great joys of being a blogger. I can’t wait to meet in person.

It’s such a fantastic time that we can reach out to friends all over the world and connect so easily. Funnily enough I just sent a shout out to you on fb and then in my feed saw that Jan from Budget Travel Talk had also sent you one. Sometimes I love that the world is such a small place. Say hi to David and those gorgeous boys, I love catching up on what you are all doing in that magic bus of yours lol. xxx

I was a total gibbering idiot on the call I was so excited to just see and hear them. Thank goodness Sam is such a friendly soul, he came off the call saying he felt like he’d known them forever. It was a wonderful way to bring him into the circle of friends I’ve made here blogging, I think he sometimes feels a little left out of my online life. Skype is my new best friend, and we have to get a camera now! sending love xxx

I never dreamed when I started the blog that I would come to love so many people who I now call dear friends (you included of course). It is one of the wonderful gifts for all the hard slog figuring out wordpress, overcoming my own doubts, and persevering through the year. It always amazes me how perfectly the universe lines up sometimes xx

Personally, I also love the internet because it’s where I meet online friends, they’re only virtual but they prove to be good and reliable friends. Thanks for sharing your story.

Isn’t it funny Mel how “virtual” friends can take such a place in the heart. I never dreamed that I’d meet so many dear friends when starting the blog. It’s just a joy and priceless beyond compare x
